October 2010 Cape Verde / Salvador de Bahia
The search for the best route when changing from one hemisphere to another has long entertained sailors throughout history. From the time the first explorers discovered the doldrums which separate the Alisio wind systems of the two seas, the explorers argue about the best route to take from one hemisphere to another. The main problem is to find the point where they will have to cross the doldrums.

For a long time now it is known that the Atlantic doldrums have a triangular shape, the base of which lies against the African Coast between the Equator and its vertex always closes to the East. If we follow this route we will be able to successfully pass the Doldrums.
During the months of September, October we will be more or less 10º N of the doldrums and should cross them between 27ºW and 28ºW hoping to find the southern winds between 7ºN and 8ºN.
On trips through the equator to the South, not only should you take into account where it is best to cross the doldrums but also how to stay as far East as possible when crossing the Northern point of South America and then make the most of the winds of the South/East.
We have planned to make Port Salvador de Bahía our first stop where we will go through the check in formalities of Brazil
Everything in the world flows, without delay.
