September 2010 Canary Islands / Cape Verde
The archipelago of the Cape Verde Islands is a good start point for the Atlantic Ocean crossing as it is strategically located just on the strip of the Alisio winds. From June to October Alisio winds usually blow in the south area of the canary Islands, very favourable for the start of the Atlantic crossing.

This stage of the journey takes us to Salt Island, located to the north of the Cape Verde Archipelago, where we can undergo the landing formalities of the check. Salt Island has an International airport which is very important in the event of a change of crew or an unforeseen need to return to the Peninsula.
